Upload a 64 by 64 pixel PNG named server-icon.png to the Java server’s main directory.

Add the icon

Prepare the image

Crop or resize the image to exactly 64 by 64 pixels and save it in PNG format. Partial transparency is supported.

Use the required filename

Name the file exactly server-icon.png. Confirm that your computer did not add a second extension such as .png.png.

Stop the server

Stop the Java server before replacing the existing icon.

Upload the icon

Upload server-icon.png to the main server directory, next to server.properties.

Start and verify

Start the server, refresh it in the Minecraft multiplayer list, and confirm that the new icon appears.
Confirm the dimensions, format, filename, and upload location. Restart the server, then remove and add the server entry again if the client still shows a cached icon.
