Create a backup before you upload a world, install an add-on, change the server version, or edit important files. A backup is useful only when you know when it was created and can restore it.

Take the server offline

Use a normal Stop and wait until the server is fully offline. You can warn players and ask them to disconnect first, or stop the server directly. A normal stop disconnects players and saves the world safely.

Create the backup

Use the backup action in the Purpify control panel. Give the backup a name that describes the state, such as before-world-upload or before-addon-update.

Confirm completion

Do not change or delete server files until the backup reports that it completed successfully.

Restore a backup

Restoring a backup replaces newer server data. Download or back up the current state first if you might need it later.

Stop the server

Wait until the server is offline.

Select the recovery point

Choose the backup created before the problem began. Check its name and creation time before continuing.

Restore and wait

Start the restore and wait for the control panel to report completion. Do not start the server or edit files during the restore.

Start and verify

Start the server, read the console for errors, and join the world. Confirm the expected world state and server settings.
